Kathy Newcomb | Director of Membership, Show Recognition & State Affiliates

Kathy Newcomb | WDAA Membership and Show RecognitionKathy Newcomb grew up in Vermont, spent many years breeding Morgans in New Jersey, and retired from Merck after 20 years to live in Nathalie, VA. Working as a scribe for a Western Dressage judge earlier this year, she was impressed by the enthusiasm and dedication of the WDAA – so she has now joined the staff and handles our membership and recognized show program. She is a pivotal part of keeping the WDAA moving and organized! She says; President Ellen DiBella is such a strong and dedicated cheerleader for Western Dressage, it was impossible to not get caught up in her enthusiasm and her love for it.” Kathy is enthused to watch this relatively new sport grow and bring in new people to grow with it.

Kathy currently owns 3 Morgan horses and one remaining Pembroke Welsh corgi; Squeak. Kathy loves carriage and driving competitions, but all of her horses are retired at this time. She says; “if I ever get another young driving horse, all bets are off!” When she’s not keeping the WDAA organized and members happy, she stays busy with medical writing and editorial work.

Weird but true fact about Kathy? “I once jumped a 4.5-foot wire fence (myself, not with a horse)! Oh my! Those were the days!”
