Holly Clanahan Hendrix | WDAA Vice President

Holly Clanahan is editor of America’s Horse magazine, the award-winning membership publication of the American Quarter Horse Association. She grew up on horseback, and her first babysitter was quite literally a Shetland pony. She was raised on the registered and commercial Angus cow/calf operation in western Oklahoma that she and her husband now own and operate as Lucky C Bar Angus.

As a youth, she showed extensively in the AQHA ranks, as well as in the International Buckskin Horse Association, where she earned a world championship in western riding. She is a life member of AQHA and IBHA and is also a member of the United States Dressage Federation and the Working Ranch Cowboys Association.

Her early professional career was spent in the newspaper industry as a reporter and editor. In 2000, she merged her two loves and began a career at AQHA. About that same time, her horse interests migrated to classical dressage, and she began studying the discipline intently, riding her late Rugged Lark grandson, Lark It Or Leave It.

As western dressage came onto the scene, Holly recognized another chance to merge her passions, blending the classical training traditions with those of the ranching world. She was among the founding board members of the Western Dressage Association of Oklahoma and remains active in the affiliate, serving as secretary and clinic host.
